"It does not require a majority to prevail,
but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds."
--Samuel Adams - Leader in our Fight for Independence

Take Action

Tired of watching from the sidelines while the forest service closes down the roads you have used for years?  Angry because well-funded environmentalists have successfully shut down your recreation?  Anxious to get back to work in the woods or the mines?  Frustrated because you can't do "your thing" anymore?  Want to fight back?

WE HAVE SOME IDEAS TO HELP YOU DO JUST THAT.

Get Involved    Join an organization that is working to protect access.  If there is none near you, start a new one or  a chapter of a regional or national organization.    Then volunteer your time and efforts to that group.  This takes commitment.  Certainly a few hours a month will be appreciated but if you really want to make a difference, consider giving 15 to 40 hours a week.

Donate     Organizations battling well funded environmentalists are always short of cash.  If you don't have extra money consider donating an item to an auction or raffle or even selling something and donating the money.  Another good way to donate is to put something in your estate for an organization you believe in.  If you are a good fundraiser, you could make a huge contribution by raising funds from others.

Speak Out     Write letters to the editor.  Go to local meetings and speak up.  Volunteer for appointment to committees.  Write, phone, email and talk face to face with your representatives in government.  Lobby the state and federal agencies  that control public land.

Direct Action      You can lead or participate in a direct action campaign like the S.O.S convoys to Jarbidge, NV, the Eureka Log Haul or the convoy and bucket brigade to Klamath Falls, OR.

Political Action     You can run for office or support those who you believe will work for preserving multiple use on public lands.  You can seek appointment to a board or committee with oversight or advisory functions in public land use.  At the very least, you should inform yourself about the candidates and vote accordingly.

Legal Action      You can support legal actions taken by MFMU and other organizations with research, your testimony, your legal expertise or simply a financial donation for legal costs.

If you have experience or training or both in the following areas, we would really like to talk to you about joining our team:

  2. Fundraising

  3. Organization/Leadership

  4. Graphic Arts
