MAP LEGEND
This view includes Troy, Libby and the Yaak.
This area has several wildland (grey) and
backcountry (cream and beige) areas, many of which were formed from
lands formerly managed as moderate and light intensity general forest.
There is a new all season motorized corridor between Troy and Libby just
south of HWY 93 for motorized recreationists to use.
The brown/grey or beige areas are backcountry areas where
snowmobiles are allowed but summer motorized is not.
The 1987 plan recommended wilderness (dark purple) all around the Cabinets and in the Scotchmen's Peak area (SW). Congress
has not acted and may never act on these recommendations. These
recommendations have been replaced by wildland and non-motorized
backcountry. The Cabinet wilderness itself is
displayed in light purple and is the only congressionally designated
wilderness on the Kootenai.
