PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE NATION ARE RALLYING TO SEND "SHOVELS OF SOLIDARITY" to the "STEWARDS OF THE DARBY"
East meets West to Unite in Stopping Government Land Grabs
S.O.S. for S.O.D.
The S.O.S. Shovels of Solidarity will be meeting with the S.O.D. Stewards of the Darby in London, Ohio, Saturday Sept. 2. This will involve a 2000 mile convoy crossing portions of rural America in eight states from Nevada to Ohio. Shovels collected in support of the fight against the Forest Service closure of the Jarbidge Road in Nevada will be delivered to the Darby Farmland Rally where a mass rally is scheduled. This in resistance to a secretly planned condemnation by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service with the intent of converting to a wildlife refuge over 53,000 acres of prime farmland. This would constitute a "taking" of private property held by some 500 families many of whom have occupied these ancestral homes and farms since Revolutionary days over 200 years ago.
A convoy bearing the shovels will be led by the "Grim Reaper", a semi-trailer painted with a listing of the Montana sawmills closed since 1990 and showing the number of jobs lost. The convoy will leave from Elko, Nevada on Monday, August 28 at 8:30 a.m. and will be joined by people along the way who are concerned about government land grabs throughout the entire United States. Rallies at stops either for lunch or overnight will give people a chance to hear and share the many problems being faced mutually throughout the country. Donations of money and shovels (new or used) to help the cause will be welcomed.
Rallies need to be organized by local people and their organizations at each location and will timed to coincide with the expected arrival of the convoy. Communication will be maintained by computer, cell phone and CB’s. Food, entertainment and programming will make these get-togethers a social event as well as a uniting of common interests and concerns. Anyone interested in organizing a local rally is urged to contact our convoy & rally organizers (See Sources of Information). We will need to coordinate timing, route, parking and other arrangements.
This would be an opportune time to hear from your local elected officials and candidates for public office. The upcoming national election is one of the most important, even critical, in the history of our nation. We need to be informed and VOTE WISELY. As we know, things are already happening throughout our country that effect our personal lives and best interests of our people.. The time is ripe to hear from our leaders, both national and local to thoroughly understand how levels of government interact on the issue of property rights and the role of our elected officials at all levels.
People may join or drop the convoy at any point along the way but are encouraged to make the entire trip to London, Ohio. A full day of events and entertainment is planned by the Darby Farmland Rally organizers to include name speakers such as Rep. Helen Chenoweth Hage and her husband, Wayne, Henry Lamb of Eco-logic and several Congressmen and candidates for federal offices. (names to be announced).
National news media will be on hand announcing and covering this event including those who produced the Fox News filming of the recently aired hour-long film on Vanishing Freedoms, "Who Owns America". People throughout the country are urged to involve their local papers, radio and TV stations. This is truly the opportunity for the people of America to unite in a common cause.
